The Rise of China – By Emerson Pyrke Over the past couple decades, we have seen china on a fast rise and growing very quickly, in fact, China s economic growth and active diplomacy are already transforming east Asia and in future decades we will see even greater increases in Chinese power and influence just knowing this information raises a wide range of different questions ranging from What can western country’s do if anything to maintain their positions as china rises? Or even questions such as Will China Overthrow the existing order or become a part of it? These are some of the various questions that the world Is questioning about China rising so quickly. What can western country’s do if anything to maintain their positions as china rises? Although these allegations are far-fetched may be open ended they are still valid and although the rise of china may be inevitable it does not have to trigger a state of where the western world automatically dismantles and where china will create new world order implementing their own international rules and their own international image shaping the world. This does not have to be the case as china rises. Although the western world and china are two very different things with their own different images of each other and thoughts of each other we cannot deny the facts. With china’s current growth being so high and so persistence and steady projections are that by 2020 at most china will overtake the US economy (GDP) and by the year 2050 the Chinese economy will have been projected to have doubled the US economy (GDP). Now many westerners may see this as a major surprise. This is because brought up as a westerner in a nation state you tend to think within your region of thought this is not the case with china and their current situation. Literary Analysis of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe The life of Edgar Allan Poe was as morbid and melancholy as his works. After the abandonment by his father and the disturbing death of his mother, both prominent traveling actors, Edgar was reluctantly forced into orphanage. He was later taken into the home of John Allan, a wealthy tobacco merchant. Their relationship was shaky, at best, and the contention between the two would last until Allans death, where his will left nothing for Poe. Amidst these calamities, came only more distress. A strong device for the melancholic tone is Poes life experiences. The narrators sorrow for the lost Lenore is paralleled with Poes own grief regarding the death of his wife. Confined in the chamber are memories of her who had frequented it. These ghostly recollections bring out a state of eager anticipation in the reader to know and be relieved of the bewilderment that the narrator and consequently Poe himself are experiencing; the narrator ponders whether he will see his wife in the afterlife. After Virginnias lingering death, Poe tried to relieve his grief by drinking. A parallelism is formed in The Raven between the condescending actions of the raven towards the narrator and the taunting of alcohol towards Poe. The raven condescends that Poe will never see his lost love again when uttering, forget this lost Lenore, in line 84. Alcohol taunts Poe into ceaseless depression and caused him to have a life-long problem with alcoholism, which eventually led to his death.
